Tijdens het Nashtival wordt het overlijden van 'Limburger King' Nash, de artiestennaam van Werner Zwakhalzen, herdacht. Vele graffitiartiesten tekenden weer present om bij wijze van muurschilderingen eer te betonen aan hun overleden vriend. Het festival vond plaats rondom jeugdhuis Fuego, het hoofdkwartier van de Love Letters crew en de plaats waar de uitvaartdienst van Nash plaatsvond. Tijdens het Nastival 2026 werd in Fuego ook het boek 'Master of Puppets' over Nash voorgesteld.Dit werk is van Mr. June, de artiestennaam van David Louf. Hij is een Nederlandse straatkunstenaar en muurschilder die vooral bekend staat om zijn kleurrijke geometrische muurschilderingen en optische illusies.Mr. June is net zoals Nash afkomstig uit Sittard, ze leerden elkaar kennen in de jaren 80 toen ze samen actief waren in de regionale graffitiwereld. In 2023 maakten Nash en Mr. June, samen met de eveneens uit Sittard afkomstige Does (Joos van Barneveld), de enorme mural 'Hometown glory' op de Eisenhowerflat in Sittard. Het was de eerste keer in tientallen jaren dat de drie Sittardse kunstenaars samen aan één groot werk werkten. Volgens Mr June was die flat een herkenningspunt uit hun jeugd: hij en Nash reisden vroeger vaak met de trein naar Amsterdam en zagen de flat telkens wanneer ze thuiskwamen in Sittard. Daarom had het project voor hen een bijzondere emotionele waarde.Tijdens Nashtival 2025 maakte Mr. June ook al een muurschildering aan Fuego.Je kan alle werken voor 'Nashtival 2026' hier bekijken. The Nashtival commemorates the death of ‘Limburger King’ Nash, the artist name of Werner Zwakhalzen. Many graffiti artists turned up to pay tribute to their late friend through murals. The festival took place once again around the Fuego youth centre, the headquarters of the Love Letters crew and the venue for Nash’s funeral service. During Nastival 2026, the book 'Master of Puppets', about Nash, was also launched at Fuego.This work is by Mr June, the artist name of David Louf. He is a Dutch street artist and muralist best known for his colourful geometric murals and optical illusions.Like Nash, Mr June is from Sittard; they met each other in the 1980s, when they were both active in the regional graffiti scene. In 2023, Nash and Mr June, together with Does (Joos van Barneveld), who is also from Sittard, created a the giant mural ‘Hometown Glory’ on the Eisenhower Flat in Sittard. It was the first time in decades that the three Sittard-based artists had worked together on a single large-scale piece. According to Mr June, that block of flats was a landmark from their youth: he and Nash used to travel frequently by train to Amsterdam and would see the block every time they returned home to Sittard.
