I often paint leaves in my artwork to symbolise growth, cleansing and connection to culture through smoking ceremonies (burning of eucalypt leaves). The handprints are for the history and stories that belong to this place long before the roads, houses and concrete. The background pattern reflects the land and ongoing responsibility we all have for caring for Country and listening to what it needs.
