The Rotterdam-based artist Thakoer is known for his powerful visual language and striking colours. He combines elements of street art, pop art and graphic design. Here, the realistic gorilla and the female figure wearing a headscarf create a striking contrast between nature and culture, whilst the graphic, maze-like map in between appears to symbolise city life, which stands in sharp contrast to the wild, colourful surroundings above.--Aan de Boomgaardsstraat 181 bevindt zich de muurschildering ‘Sterker door strijd’ van de kunstenaar Navin Thakoer, die werkt onder de artiestennaam NaferLovesYou, uit september 2007.De titel is een verwijzing naar het motto van de stad Rotterdam: ‘Sterker door strijd’. De Rotterdamse kunstenaar Thakoer staat bekend om zijn krachtige beeldtaal en opvallende kleuren. Hij combineert elementen uit street art, popart en grafisch design.
