At the residents’ request, the neighbourhood was not demolished but redeveloped by AlleeWonen (now Alwel) in collaboration with the residents. There are DIY homes, a neighbourhood lounge and various cultural events organized in collaboration with Electron.For the mural, Dzia (BE) drew inspiration from the origins of this area, a polder where many birds used to nest. The flamingo symbolizes the neighbourhood’s colourful character. Whilst applying the white undercoat, the artist received plenty of reactions from the local community. At the time, three birds were painted on three houses. Together, the three birds (a toucan, a swan and a flamingo) symbolized the neighbourhood’s creative, colourful and diverse character, with a nod to the past. Unfortunately, the houses on which the toucan and the swan were painted have been demolished as part of the area’s redevelopment, but this flamingo has survived the redevelopment. In June 2026, this mural was given a fresh coat of paint by Dzia whilst he was in Breda to apply new murals to an adjacent new building.==========Kunstwerk voor de Blind Walls Gallery in samenwerking met woningcorporatie AlleeWonen.De Liniestraat vormt de buitengrens van het Liniekwartier. Op het verzoek van de bewoners is de wijk niet gesloopt, maar herontwikkeld door AlleeWonen (nu Alwel) in samenwerking met de bewoners. Er zijn klushuizen, een wijksalon en diverse culturele evenementen in samenwerking met Electron.Voor de muurschildering haalde Dzia (BE) zijn inspiratie uit de oorsprong van dit gebied, een polder waar veel vogels broedden. De flamingo verbeeldt het kleurrijke karakter van de wijk. Tijdens het aanbrengen van de witte onderschildering kreeg de artiest al veel reacties uit de buurt. Indertijd werden er 3 vogels geschilderd op 3 huizen. Samen verbeeldden de drie vogels (een toekan, een zwaan en een flamingo) het creatieve, kleurrijke en diverse karakter van de wijk, met een kleine knipoog naar het verleden. De huizen waar de toekan en de zwaan op geschilderd waren zijn helaas afgebroken voor de herinrichting van het gebied, maar deze flamingo heeft de herinrichting overleefd.
