Photos taken April 2021.⠀⠀⠀'Chavez, who is now based in San Antonio and considers himself a sort of pop surrealist, is a painter, but also creates his own customized toys. His first line of action figures, “Nuke Beach,” was based on an original story about a group of surfers who are mutated by the Fukushima nuclear disaster that took place in Japan in 2011. His second, “Massimo Man,” was based on another original narrative about a hero who has an arm cannon powered by the energy of Hulkamania.' - 2021 interview by Kiko Martinez for @remezcla https://remezcla.com/culture/san-antonio-artist-makes-customized-toys-based-latino-cult-classic-blood-blood/⠀⠀⠀'Any pivotal artistic moment/influence? Yea when I discovered the Chicago pop art collective called “The Hairy Who”. These guys did some great surrealist pop art that kinda validated the craziness that i had been painting at the time, and these dudes were big in the 60’s and 70’s.\"' - 2015 interview by @artwhorecult https://artwhorecult.com/art-talk-louie-chavez-of-nuke-beach/⠀⠀⠀https://nukebeach.bigcartel.comhttps://massimoman.bigcartel.com","author_name":"Mike Franks","author_url":"https://streetartcities.com/users/0127e760-c655-40c3-9fd9-4a94f211a361","thumbnail_url":"https://streetart.media/7/7a95f7a6-cad8-47a1-a2ea-07b239d43b83/1024.jpg","thumbnail_width":1024,"width":480,"height":480,"html":"<iframe src=\"https://streetartcities.com/markers/9a429bb0-ec1a-4f89-b40f-b6379c6b910e/embed\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" style=\"border:none;border-radius:12px;max-width:100%;\" loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"fullscreen; storage-access\" title=\"Dreamonoids by Louie Chavez\"></iframe>","cache_age":3600}
