Rembrant / miniature asshole. by Pang

When Pang visited for Hit the North 2016 from her home in Lisbon she was at once delighted and horrified to have been given a spot next to Belfast’s most iconic street art The Duel of Belfast. ‘No pressure’ she said. But she’d got that spot for a reason. This piece is spray, but spray made to look like brush strokes. It’s a portrait of Rembrant, done in the style of Rembrant and his contemporaries, with a deliberately badly drawn man in the bottom right painting over it. It’s a commentary on how we value art, why some is kept behind security guards, in a museum and some is painted over by the council.@pang_artworks
