The artwork illustrates two sleeping figures wrapped in patchwork dream quilts that interweave the waking aspirations, future ambitions, and imaginative night dreams collected directly from local residents and pupils at Gloucester House School.ABOUT THE ARTIST:Megan Menzies (b. 1995) is a London-based artist and Royal College of Art MA Painting graduate (2022). Her multidisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, and storytelling, focusing on personal narrative, community memory, and evocative dreamscapes.ABOUT THE PIECE:Community Commission & Inclusion: Commissioned by Camden Council in partnership with the NW3 Community Land Trust to brighten hoardings during site redevelopment, with an emphasis on inclusive community collaboration alongside Gloucester House.Participatory Concept: Created from dreams submitted to a neighborhood "dream post-box" by passers-by and through creative workshops led by the artist with children at Gloucester House School. Waking Hopes & Sleep Dreams: The quilts visually balance surreal dreams from sleep with waking ambitions for the future, the community, and the wider world:The Warm-Toned Quilt: Illustrates childhood career ambitions, including becoming a professional footballer (notably featuring "Gunners" and "Spurs" local references) and a scientist inventing a "PAST / FUTURE" time machine. Other panels feature a child's "FIRE AIR" aircraft in flight, ecological pledges ("Stop Pollution Save Our Oceans"), acoustic music, and mythical creatures.
