Steam Locomotive by Sunrise by Kelsey Phillips

Steam Locomotive by SunriseThis traffic signal cabinet mural is part of an effort to increase public art in Gilbert's Downtown Heritage District.Local artist Kelsey Phillips was selected to complete the project by a committee comprised of Town of Gilbert staff, members of the Redevelopment Commission and Heritage District merchants.Kelsey's inspiration for the concept: "In this mural, I combine Gilbert’s past as a railroad town along the Arizona Eastern Railway, various species of native birds, and whimsical clouds and smoke to commemorate the past, present, and future of the Town. Wildlife is a fundamental part of living in the Sonoran Desert and all of the bird species depicted can be found at the local Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, a bird watching destination."Source: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/f334975102c444a999402dd8fb33d8c1
