Untitled by Jaune

The artwork depicts one of the characteristic street workers created by Belgian street artist Jaune. The miniature figure appears to be taking a break and enjoying a cup of coffee. Fittingly, the piece is located on the barrier surrounding the outdoor seating area of a café in the historic centre of Laon.Jaune lives and works in Brussels. Before establishing himself as an artist, he worked in urban sanitation. This experience inspired his signature subject: miniature figures dressed in the high-visibility clothing worn by street and sanitation workers. These characters have featured in his work since 2011.Beneath the humour of Jaune's art lies a social observation: although sanitation workers wear highly visible fluorescent clothing, they often go unnoticed in everyday life. Jaune draws attention to these workers and the importance of their contribution to society.
