Elbe Skies by Yves Gallard

A 14 × 55 m abstract mural painted on ropes across a 70 m tower of the former Muskator-Werke, an animal feed factory on the banks of the Elbe that closed in 2013. Inspired by the colours of the Elbe valley sky, the work is conceived as a window onto the sky: a geometric composition of ever-smaller rectangles that echo the proportions of the facade itself. Painted entirely in large airless spray gradients, with no lines or rollers and more than 20 shades, it extends the artist’s research into chromatic vibration and light.Rope access, safety and airless support: Patrick Hintze (@patastrophal).
