Untitled by JUKKA HAKANEN

VARTIOKUJA (Guard hill) In the early 1840s, the rocky Vartiovuorenmäki hill in Turku began to be transformed into a green space by the city’s residents. At the initiative of local inhabitants and through voluntary community work, a park was created on the previously barren hill. Over the following decade, it became one of Finland’s oldest and historically most valuable municipal urban parks. The *Vartiokuja* mural celebrates this spirit of cooperation among the people of Turku and the history of the park. The mural was painted in 2025 https://www.jukkahakanen.fi/portfolio/Paintings/vartiokuja%2Bturku%2Bseinamaalaus%2Bmuraali%2Bjukkahakanen "VARTIOKUJA - Maalaa Jukka Hakanen
