Alex Bacon (Alex Lazich), is a Canadian graffiti pioneer and contemporary artist based in Toronto. Known for sculpting dimensionality with bold spray paint palettes, his work bridges classical realism with dynamic outdoor scale. ABOUT THE PIECE: Painted across the festival week culminating on April 14, 2025, this hyper-realistic portrait honors Bermuda’s iconic folk masquerade tradition. Rather than focusing on a single historical figure, the artists highlighted the cultural essence of the Gombey: capturing the glossy sheen and carved details of the hand-painted mask with swirling scarlet and blue accents, a human eye visible through the cutout, braided hair, and the vibrant, fringed cape and tassels.
