Chrissy Amphlett by Peter Gouldthorpe

The late Divinyls singer Chrissy Amphlett helped put Australian rock on the map, she passed away on 21 April 2013, after a long battle with breast cancer. Amphlett Lane, off Little Bourke Street between Spring and Exhibition streets, was officially named in honour of Chrissy and declared open in February 2015.The re-naming of Corporation Lane 1639 to the decidedly more colourful Amphlett Lane comes almost two years after a petition attracted more than 7000 signatures and the lobbying of "Team Chrissy", a group comprised of author Jessica Adams, music writer Jenny Valentish, Drayton, Little Pattie and Amphlett's literary agent, Fran Moore. As well as a commemorative plaque, the artwork here features the singer's iconic schoolgirl uniform and her beloved dogs, it is by Tasmanian artist Peter Gouldthorpe.
