PAX by Yann Chatelin

Part of Grenoble Street Art Fest 2025This year’s @grenoblestreetartfest was a special one, as the work took place on the façade of the former PAX HOTEL, a site steeped in history. From 1943 to 1945, it quietly served as a place of resistance. In today’s complex and uncertain world, speaking of resistance is not just about looking back at the past—it’s also a way of taking a stand in the present. The central portrait, calm and serene, invites viewers to engage with the work without confrontation. A discreet rose serves as a powerful symbol of resistance: it first draws the eye, then opens the door to reflection on what it means to resist.Surrounding this figure, abstract writing unfolds like a woven tapestry of cultures. Inspired by Sanskrit, Tibetan, Arabic, and Latin scripts, I created a hybrid calligraphy that carries a message of tolerance and universality. These interlaced letters—without hierarchy or borders—dissolve differences and suggest a shared language: that of humanity. With PAX, I hope to build a bridge between past and present, between personal history and collective memory. The mural becomes a wall of peace, a call to resist in all its forms: cultural, human, and quietly steadfast.Source: IG Artist.
