Originally from Argentina, they are currently based in Barcelona, Spain.Unlike ordinary walls, which simply divide spaces, medianeras are the walls shared between neighboring buildings. This concept resonates deeply with the artists, who believe that public art, beyond beautifying cities, reclaims the idea of spaces shared by everyone. Their work seeks to transform the way people perceive urban environments, reshape the everyday landscape of the street, and embrace the creative process alongside the local communities where they paint.Vanesa Galdeano and Analí Chanquía have each been creating public art for more than twelve years and began collaborating in 2015. Sharing common concerns about urban space and public art, they developed a unified artistic project called I MEDIANERAS to expand and connect their individual practices. For them, traveling, exploring cities, and creating site-specific works that become part of the urban fabric is an essential aspect of their artistic approach.At the heart of their visual language is the depiction of a wide variety of faces, celebrating the diversity of communities and giving visibility to different social groups.
