Eleven artists painted eleven façades, each connected to a field of research based in the city.Mandiohs Wandbild „Be the change you want to see“ zeigt eine Frau, die ihren letzten Atemzug loslässt, nicht als Zeichen der Niederlage, sondern als Akt der Hoffnung. Die Blasen ihres Atems stehen für die Möglichkeit, die bleibt: dass schon die kleinste Handlung eine große Veränderung anstößt. Das tiefe Blau um sie herum ist die Nordsee, ein Ort von Schönheit, Widerstandskraft und Leben; das Licht im dunklen Wasser erinnert daran, dass Hoffnung mit einem einzigen Strahl beginnt. Damit verbindet Mandioh zwei Anliegen ihrer Kunst: den Schutz der Meere und die Kraft der Weiblichkeit. Beim MURAL CITY – Beauty of Science erzählt Mandiohs Arbeit von den Meeres- und Klimawissenschaften. Der Ozean ist keine unerschöpfliche Ressource, sondern ein lebendiges Herz, das alle Menschen auf der Erde verbindet, und sein Zustand entscheidet mit darüber, wie wir künftig leben. Elf Artists gestalteten elf Fassaden, jede mit einer Verbindung zu einem Forschungsfeld aus der Stadt.Mandioh's mural "Be the change you want to see" shows a woman releasing her final breath, not as a sign of defeat, but as an act of hope. The bubbles of her breath stand for the possibility that remains: that even the smallest action can set a great change in motion. The deep blue around her is the North Sea, a place of beauty, resilience and life; the light in the dark water is a reminder that hope begins with a single ray. In this, Mandioh brings together two concerns of her art: the protection of the oceans and the power of femininity. Within MURAL CITY – Beauty of Science, Mandioh's work tells of marine and climate science. The ocean is not an endless resource but a living heart that connects everyone on Earth, and its condition helps decide how we will live in the future.
