I was informed that Waaia means "crow" in indigenous language, thus the black birds shown in the artwork are crows.The artwork depicts the history of Waaia's long agricultural background - there is the water wheel for the necessary irrigation and the large stack of wheat sacksThe man stacking the bags of wheat is Bill Martin. He is famous for carrying 2 bags on his shoulders at once.The train is a passenger railway car commonly nicknamed the "Beetle ".
