Ophélia by Jorge Charrua

I was invited by @revistafome, with the support of @palmela.municipio, to paint a mural at the Municipal Library of Pinhal Novo, Portugal. Inspired by Shakespeare's "Ophelia", I deconstructed its historical iconography to give shape to the figure lying in the water as a metaphor for a lost generation, running out of strenght and without a place in the world, at a time when the uncertainty of the future makes us sustain our breath indefinitely. On the other hand, the stillness of the water fills us with a sense of calm and serenity, and asks for reflection in the search of our own truth, hoping for a better tomorrow.
