1.0 rich Street Art Cities https://streetartcities.com The work was created by the artist duo Monkidoe, comprising the Rotterdam-based artists Robert Rost and Lennaert Koorman, and forms part of the art project Oh Sophia. The project originally consisted of six gigantic, colourful portraits of children who were born or treated at the nearby Erasmus MC Sophia Children’s Hospital. It is a tribute to the children themselves, the doctors and the nursing staff. Both artists have a strong personal connection with the children’s hospital. For the series, a photo shoot was first carried out featuring twenty children, some accompanied by their parents, brothers or sisters. From these, six portraits were selected to serve as the basis for the artworks.The original series was installed back in 2005. In 2021, with the support of CBK Rotterdam, the artists completely revamped the portraits.--Het werk is gemaakt door het kunstenaarsduo Monkidoe, bestaande uit de Rotterdamse kunstenaars Robert Rost en Lennaert Koorman en is onderdeel van het kunstproject Oh Sophia. Het project bestond oorspronkelijk uit zes gigantische, kleurrijke portretten van kinderen die zijn geboren of behandeld in het nabijgelegen Erasmus MC Sophia Kinderziekenhuis. Het is een eerbetoon aan de kinderen zelf, de artsen en het verplegend personeel. Beide kunstenaars hebben een sterke persoonlijke connectie met het kinderziekenhuis. Voor de serie werd eerst een fotoshoot van twintig kinderen gemaakt, al dan niet met hun ouders, broertjes of zusjes. Daaruit werden zes portretten gekozen die als basis voor de kunstwerken dienden.De oorspronkelijke serie werd al in 2005 geplaatst.
