1.0 rich Street Art Cities https://streetartcities.com Muurschildering in progress van Wannes Vrijs, die werkt onder de artiestennaam Wallievis, in samenwerking met Slammer!, een Genks audiovisueel en artistiek collectief rond Toon Loenders. Samen met onder meer Sam Billen (artistiek directeur van Treepack), Diren Agbaba en Bob Thissen realiseerde hij al verschillende kunstprojecten in de openbare ruimte van Genk.De planten op de muurschildering verwijzen naar het Plantenasiel waar mensen kamerplanten kunnen binnenbrengen die ziek, verwaarloosd of te groot geworden zijn. Sommige van deze planten werden voor een kunstproject ook tentoongesteld in de serre aan de linkerzijde van het gebouw waarop de muurschildering van Wallievis verschijnt.Op de plek waar nu de serre staat, bevond zich vroeger de muurschildering 'The light that binds' van Jan Rosius. Dit werk is intussen verdwenen nadat het gebouw werd afgebroken.________________________________________________________________________________________A mural in progress by Wannes Vrijs, who works under the artist name Wallievis, in collaboration with Slammer!, an audiovisual and artistic collective based in Genk and led by Toon Loenders. Together with Sam Billen (artistic director of Treepack), Diren Agbaba and Bob Thissen, amongst others, he has already realised several art projects in Genk’s public spaces.The plants depicted in the mural refer to the Plant Shelter, where people can bring in houseplants that are diseased, neglected or have grown too large. Some of these plants were also exhibited as part of an art project in the conservatory on the left-hand side of the building on which Wallievis’s mural is painted.Where the conservatory now stands, there used to be the mural ‘The light that binds’ by Jan Rosius. This work has since disappeared following the demolition of the building.
