<title>Lady Mermaids by Amanda Smart, Bronwyn Schuster, Lani Imre, Tia Rambaran</title>
<description>"Lady Mermaids" was created in 2017 as part of the Vancouver Mural Festival by four local artists: Amanda Smart, Bronwyn Schuster, Lani Imre and Tia Rambaran. The festival described the work as a collaboration between four female figurative artists. The mural was conceived around the themes of transformation and awareness of the ocean and the Pacific West Coast. The artists designed the four mermaids as distinct stages of movement: from a resting figure through sitting and rising to a more adventurous mermaid swimming into the depths. The composition follows the same progression, moving from narrower sections to larger areas of wall to suggest the transition from shallow to deeper water. The collaboration between the four artists is also expressed through the interaction of the mermaids and the shared underwater environment</description>
