1.0 rich Street Art Cities https://streetartcities.com The transformer station on Heinigstraße in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, directly opposite the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, was painted in 2019 by street artist and graffiti artist Cédric Pintarelli, also known as SWEETUNO. The project was created for the orchestra's centenary. Technische Werke Ludwigshafen (TWL) made the transformer station available for the project, while the Staatsphilharmonie used the artwork as a highly visible advertising surface for its anniversary season.The photographed sides are dominated by an abstract composition of black outlines, white and light-grey areas, and red accents. Interlocking rounded forms resemble circles, rings, spirals or highly abstracted letters. The strong black contours create a pronounced rhythm and give the composition a sense of movement.Rather than depicting a clearly identifiable figurative subject, the work relies on an abstract visual language rooted in graffiti writing. Pintarelli has been involved in classical graffiti writing since 1989 and subsequently developed a more experimental approach combining graffiti with painting and abstract forms. The artwork was part of a broader collaboration between SWEETUNO and the Staatsphilharmonie during its 2019/20 centenary season. The orchestra explicitly connected Pintarelli's street art imagery with its musical programme. Its own publication documents the transformer station as a work by Pintarelli created for the orchestra's 100th anniversary.
