Boterstraat, Den Haag by Anton Pieck

This mural is an enlarged interpretation of the watercolour entitled ‘Boterstraat, The Hague’, painted by the artist Anton Pieck around 1950, and captures the characteristic, nostalgic and romanticised atmosphere of the real Boterstraat street as it once was.Over 110 years ago, the Pieck family lived at number 266 Weimarstraat. The location of the artwork is therefore a deliberate nod to the neighbourhood where the young artist grew up. It is also a tribute and the final initiative of neighbourhood representative Henri Weber, who passed away before the mural was unveiled on 21 April 2023.It is located at the corner of Weimarstraat 330 and Professor Kaiserstraat 55.
