  <title>Untitled by Shoof</title>
<description>Shoof’s large-scale mural transforms the façade into a dense network of abstract lettering. Against a deep blue background, numerous white and grey forms overlap, resembling fragmented, tilted and sometimes flowing letters. The artist, Hosni Hertelli, known as Shoof, originates from the medina of Tunis. In his murals, he deconstructs the Arabic alphabet into individual visual elements, freeing the script from its conventional function as written language. The resulting forms become an independent visual vocabulary, with rhythm, movement and graphic impact taking precedence over readability. He also experiments with paint diluted to varying degrees, using drips and flowing strokes to create a sense of movement and make certain forms appear to stretch upwards. The mural exemplifies Shoof’s approach to combining elements of Arabic calligraphy with an abstract, contemporary visual language.</description>
