1.0 rich Street Art Cities https://streetartcities.com On the gable wall of an old tenement building in Warsaw’s Praga-Północ district, an unusual chapel appears to emerge from the architecture. A large arch frames several overlapping turquoise layers, while the right-hand side contains a seemingly pixelated image in pastel and green tones. The illusionistic treatment makes the composition look like a three-dimensional digital graphic projected onto the wall.The mural is titled Świątynia (“Shrine”) and was created in 2018 by the Berlin-based artist duo Low Bros, brothers Christoph and Florin Schmidt. It was produced as part of the Street Art Doping 2018 festival and, according to Fundacja Do Dzieła, was the Low Bros’ first work in Poland. The work draws on a distinctive feature of Warsaw’s Praga district: numerous small shrines and images of the Virgin Mary can be found in its courtyards and on its buildings. The artists reinterpret this traditional local motif through a digital, pixel-based visual language. The mural therefore addresses the tension between tradition and technological progress, a theme explicitly discussed by the artists. Its pixelated imagery represents a younger, digitally shaped generation while leaving room for new ways of imagining the world.
