<title>Among the trees by Megan Oldhues</title>
<description>As a part of the 2026 Nelson International Mural Festival, Toronto-based muralist Megan Oldhues recently completed Among the trees at 45 Government Road. Using her signature blend of impressionism and realism, the piece features a large tree inhabited by the playful figures of children, surrounded by lush, green foliage. When asked about her inspiration for the piece, Oldhues said: “I was really influenced by my own childhood, my grandparents used to have this property on a lake that had these huge trees and these tire swings, and I've just been spending a lot of time with them at the end of their life recently and just remembering those times. I noticed that this area itself is pretty industrial, although it's surrounded by these trees and the beautiful view, and so I wanted to bring a bit of that fun playfulness and nature."</description>
