ACADIANA by Robert Dafford

At age 5 Robert Dafford began copying illustrations from a book on Norse mythology, beginning a lifelong pursuit of mastering art. By high school he was feeling a calling to create massive public works and he is now one of the country's most prolific muralists with more than 500 works to his credit. A resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Dafford feels a duty to help preserve local culture. Lafayette Travel says Acadiana runs through his work: "From centuries-old oaks to prehistoric swamps, from the rhythms of French language and music to the fight to preserve Cajun culture...." “There’s an energy tied up in the paint,” Dafford reflects. “If it excites people, if it makes them proud of their place, then it’s working.”This large 2025 work sits behind Advance Lock Company in the Fat City neighborhood of Metairie, Louisiana.
